T.O. wants back in the NFL. His biggest problem is who wants him? He says the two
NFL jerseys he would like to wear are the 49′ers or Raiders. Why would any team take
him? He is the most disruptive player to ever play. He is a team divider and locker room
cancer. My guess is that with his reputation we will never see him in the NFL again.
Memorial Day weekend is almost upon us and so is the Indy 500.
I am not the biggest race fan, but I do love the 500. There is something
more exciting about open car racing than the NASCAR cars. I am tired
of watching basketball right now and sitting inside. If the weather is
nice, I will put my TV outside relax and watch the race. I most
likely will watch some baseball and well. I’m a huge fan of the Rockies,
I even have some MLB car floor mats in my vehicle. I just hope the
weathers cooperates because I don’t want to be stuck inside.
If you remember back 15 to 30 years ago, tennis was immensely popular. Everyone played the
game. You had to wait for hours just to get on a public court. It was one of the most popular
sports to watch on TV. What happened to it? Did I just lose interest or did everyone lose interest.
Maybe tennis needs some serious marketing. I see people walking around wearing football gear,
MLB caps and even once in a while someone in a NHL cap. Have you ever seen anyone in tennis
gear or a John McEnroe cap. Does not exist. You may say it’s because it’s not a team sport and you
may be right. Nascar isn’t a team sport either and they sell plenty of stuff. I think tennis has just
died a slow death when all the others seem to be surging.
Ron Artest has changed his name to Metta World Peace.
Even though he has changed his name, he is still the same
dysfunctional person he has always been. Ron Artest has
been a dirty player in the past and has proved it once again
by throwing an elbow in the face of another person. If Ronny
boy is going to change his name to World Peace, he should try
to live up to what it means. Someone named World Peace should
act more peaceful to his fellow man and not like Ron Artest.
He’s back in an NBA jersey after his suspension for the elbow,
so all you Laker fans can rest in peace.
Junior Seau’s suicide and death is a very tragic thing. For such a
positive person to go this way and leave behind a family and children
is very tragic. Some want to blame the NFL and his concussions for his
death. Some say the NFL toys with the players and don’t take concussions
seriously enough. All players know the risk they are taking when they play
football. Injuries and concussions are part of that when you sign a contract
to be a multi-millionaire. Also, most of these players have been playing
since they were 7 years old. They have been taking hits for some 20-30
years. If the NFL is to blame, so is the college they played for, the high school,
junior high and beyond.
Way back in the days of Major League Baseball, pitchers routinely pitched a complete game.
In today’s modern game, it’s rare for starting pitcher’s to get their MLB shirts sweaty. If they
can go 6 innings, it’s an accomplishment today. Are pitchers today not as tough as they used
to be or is the talent they face better than them. I would love to see baseball limit a team on how
many pitchers they can use in a game. The game has grown so slow with the changing of pitchers
and commercials, I can hardly get involved with it on TV. I like listening to it more on the radio
because I can stay busy during all the down time.
Danica Patrick is the hottest thing on the NASCAR circuit right now,
and it’s not because of her driving, It’s because she fills out her
NASCAR shirts like no other driver. Definitely not the best driver,
but definitely the best looking. She doesn’t have a lot of friends on
the track, but off the track she has plenty. Patrick alone has brought
thousands of fans to the sport that was starting to get a little mundane.
Will she ever win a race? I don’t think so, but fans will follow her anyway.
The PGA Tour has two new stars. They are Rory Mcilroy and Rickie Fowler. Both are 23 years old and seem to have
the personality that the game needs. This is great for the game that for so long depended on Tiger Woods. Woods missed
the cut on Friday at The Wells Fargo Championship and all I can say is great. The game doesn’t need Woods anymore. It
won’t miss his temper tantrums or his bad attitude. Woods should just put on his favorite pair of college basketball shorts
and play some hoops with his old college friends. Woods is now bad for the game with all his off and on field problems. With
all the new stars coming up, I hope Woods never makes another cut, but that is probably just dreaming.
Some say the most thrilling seconds in sports is bull riding. I cant argue that as it takes
a lot of guts to get on top of a mean, nasty 1,800 pound animal that wants to kill you.
If you watched the Kentucky Derby and the jockeys on top of those horses getting bumped
around with 19 others, that takes plenty of guts as well. Football players may be meaner,
the fighters in their MMA shorts may be tougher but those little guys on top of 1,000 pound
animals are pretty tough as well. Whose is the toughest in sports? I guess it depends on your
skill level in whatever your doing.
NASCAR’s most popular driver, Dale Earnhardt Jr. moves to the top
of the field in Nascar standings. Junior had his fourth top three finish
in nine races. Even though Kyle Bush won the 400 at Richmond International
Raceway on Saturday for his first victory of the year, he is 7th in the standings
now. Watching Bush celebrate his win, I was wondering how many advertisements
these guys have on their Nascar jackets. There’s so many of them you can’t even
read them all. And I bet their not cheap, at least something I can’t afford.
