With the Indy 500 going on Sunday, there probably were not a lot
of fans wearing their Nascar Shirts. Of all the car racing going on
these days, nothing is quite like the Indy 500. Although I like Nascar,
there is something special about the open car racing. It seems more
nostalgic than the closed cars. As a kid I went to the race 4 times and
have great memories of it.
Just one day I would like to be a NASCAR driver. Just one day I would like to drive
over the speed limit without a cop bothering me. Just the other day a cop pulled me
over for speeding. He said, I have been waiting for you all day. I said, I got here as
fast as I could. I was wearing one of my NASCAR shirts and looking pretty cool in
my Subaru. This time he just laughed and let me go.
There was a bad wreck at Daytona over the weekend. Over 120 fans
were injured when there was a bad wreck. NASCAR felt bad and
said all the right things. What they should do is give each fan injured
a couple of NASCAR jackets signed by all the drivers. What a great way to say sorry
about that and we do care about you.
The Daytona 500 is just around the corner and guess who has the first post.
It’s the best looking driver on the circuit. You guessed it, Danica Patrick.
Not only is she a great driver, but she looks great in Nascar shirts, or Nascar
anything. With her having the first post, look for ratings to go sky high.
Dale Earnhardt Junior finally won a race. It has been 4 long
years and 143 races to break his losing streak. His losing
streak is the 6th longest in NASCAR racing. As far as
NASCAR gifts go, Junior is the most popular driver on
the circuit. Way to go Junior, hope it doesn’t take another
4 years to get your next win. I don’t think your fans
can take it.
Union Rags won the Belmont Stakes on Saturday in the longest
of the three big horse races. The Belmont is a grueling 1 1/2
mile race. “I’ll Have Another” which won the Kentucky Derby
and the Preakness was scratched 30 hours before the race. That’s
to bad because we have not had a Triple Crown winner in over
thirty years. Unlike NASCAR jackets, which are full of advertising,
it’s nice to see the jockey’s and the sport of horse racing haven’t
sold out to all the advertising.
Kurt Busch, already on probation from NASCAR has been suspended
for one week for having another temper tantrum. Fired by his team
last year for bad behavior, Busch just can’t seem to keep his big mouth
shut. His probation has now been extended to the end of the year. Busch
better start realizing what a privilege it is to race NASCAR and what a
great life he lives or he will be trading his NASCAR shirts in for some
other kind of work shirts.
Danica Patrick is the hottest thing on the NASCAR circuit right now,
and it’s not because of her driving, It’s because she fills out her
NASCAR shirts like no other driver. Definitely not the best driver,
but definitely the best looking. She doesn’t have a lot of friends on
the track, but off the track she has plenty. Patrick alone has brought
thousands of fans to the sport that was starting to get a little mundane.
Will she ever win a race? I don’t think so, but fans will follow her anyway.
NASCAR’s most popular driver, Dale Earnhardt Jr. moves to the top
of the field in Nascar standings. Junior had his fourth top three finish
in nine races. Even though Kyle Bush won the 400 at Richmond International
Raceway on Saturday for his first victory of the year, he is 7th in the standings
now. Watching Bush celebrate his win, I was wondering how many advertisements
these guys have on their Nascar jackets. There’s so many of them you can’t even
read them all. And I bet their not cheap, at least something I can’t afford.
You were all set up for the big race, the first NASCAR race of the
season. Danica Patricks first big Nascar race. You sat and sat and
then had to turn off your TV. For the first time in it’s 54 year history,
the Daytona 500 was canceled. Rain pelted the course all day. Drivers
were wearing jackets over their Nascar shirts because it was cold and most
had umbrellas. The 500 mile race will be run today, weather permitting.
I will have to record it and watch tonight because Monday is a work day.
