Lambeau Field is the oldest stadium in the NFL. The only stadiums that are older are Boston’s Fenway Park and Chicago’s Wrigley Field, which are both for baseball. Lambeau Field opened up in 1957 with 32,500 seats. It now has 73,128 and is adding 6,000 more at a cost of 130 million. Good news for some Packer fans who have been on a waiting list for decades. Bad news for most who have been waiting. You could be on the waiting list a lifetime and never get tickets. If you’re a Packer fan and you want season tickets, my suggestion to you is to move to a city with a lousy team and tickets will be abundant. You can still be a closet Packer’s fan and wear your NFL jerseys in the dark.

You better not point, you better not shout, you better not ridicule I’m telling you why, those college refs won’t let you get by. A new rule will punish a team for any of these infractions and others. Not only will they throw a flag and hit you with a 15 yard penalty, but if it’s done on a touchdown, they will take those 6 points off the board. Now the only people wearing NCAA football jerseys that can do any taunting are those in the stands. And you can bet you will see a lot of that from the fans if their team has 6 points taken off and then they loss the game. I just hope the refs are sensible enough to not take this to far. Emotions and celebrating is part of the game, but players have taken it to far. Though the coaches cannot manage their players off the field, I hope they can manage them on the field.

Ever been to college football game on Saturday and then go to a pro game on Sunday. Big entertainment difference. College games to me are a whole lot more fun. The marching bands, the mascots and just the unity of the schools make it more fun. So many more people are wearing NCAA football jerseys at college games than pro jerseys on Sunday. Ever watch a Nebraska game, it’s a sea of red, everyone is out for a good time. People seem to take pro football way to seriously, it’s only a game. College fans seem to understand this more. You can also see a lot more games for less money. You can actually afford to take your family to a game and still make the house payment at the end of the month. If you have never been to a college game, try it, you’ll have a great time.

Vince Young still has a big mouth. He is wearing different NFL apparel this year, playing backup quarterback to Vick for the Eagles. He thinks he’s on the “Dream Team”. Sure the Eagles are very talented this year, but not because of Vick. He is not playing like a first round draft pick, more like a 7th. Best to keep your mouth shut and play better than to say Y’all all might as well not show up come game time. With these comments, he sure has put a target on the back of his team. Comments like this take on a life of their own and I’m sure his teammates don’t like it. Backup quarterbacks like Young should just try to improve and not try to be the center of attention. His play is so bad, that won’t get him any attention so he uses his mouth instead.

Football is just a game, it’s supposed to be for fun and entertaining. Fan violence has gotten way out of hand. In the recent San Francisco, Raiders game it went to a new level.  2 fans were shot for wearing opposing NFL jerseys. One was shot in the stomach several times. Fist fights broke out all over the stadium. What person in their right mind would want to attend and NFL game until this is stopped. What parent in their right mind would want to take their children to a game. I for one will never attend a game until this is stopped. Police ejected 70 people during that game. All people ejected should be banned from game for the rest of their lives. Going to a game you get riped off for parking, hot dogs are way to expensive and you could buy a case of beer for what you pay for one at a game. Add in the violence and it’s just not worth the trip. Me, I’ll just stay at home, invite over some friends and enjoy the experience knowing I’m not going to get beat up for booing the opponent or get shot for wearing something someone elso doesn’t like.

So far no Miami players have been suspended on charges of impropriety by the NCAA. Safety Ray Ray Armstrong and quarterback Lacory Harris practiced Wednesday morning. First year coach Golden said all players will practice until they hear from the NCAA that they broke the rules. You can bet several Miami players will be stripped of their NCAA apparel when the NCAA gets done with them. Expect Miami to have a terrible season. This has to be toughest on first year coach Al Golden who had a successful run at Temple University. Hired in December he had no idea of the allegations against Miami. Had he known, he most likely would not have taken the job. Who wants to be a head coach at a university that is going to be punished by the NCAA. I feel sorry for you Al Golden, a good guy that is going to have to coach a team that will be destroyed by the NCAA. My advise to you, quit the program and find an honest school to coach at. The university was not honest with you when you hired on.

With Miami joining a long list of schools being investigated by the NCAA, changes need to be made. Other schools include Oregon, North Carolina, LSU, Ohio State, Michigan and Georgia Tech. Players need to obey the rules and know it is a privilege to put on the pads and wear their schools NCAA football jerseys. The players are being selfish and greedy and putting themselves above the school. Don’t bit the hand that’s feeding you. Their getting a great education and all they have to do is obey the rules. In my opinion if a player gets caught, he should be expelled from the school and have to pay back all the college tuition and other expenses. If you give them harsh penalties, they may think twice before they do what’s wrong.

If Peyton Manning can’t start the regular season, the Colts need a good quarterback and soon. Curtis Painter who started the last 2 games for the Colts is not the answer. Hello Brett Favre, get off your tractor, get out your NFL luggage tags and pack you bags. The Colts need you and now. Payton had neck surgery in May and has not taken a snap yet. His 227 consecutive game streak is in jeopardy. Although the gunslinger says he’s retired this would be a good quick fix for the Colts. Favre has thrown for more than 71,000 yards and 500 touchdowns and has been the league MVP three times. He knows how to win. Sure he is 41 years old, but he won’t have to play the entire season, just until Manning is ready. Then he can be a reliable backup (if can take that role) if Manning gets hurt again. Come on back Brett your the next quarterback for the Indianapolis Colts.

Come on Eli, you don’t belong in the same class as Tom Brady of the New England Patriots. You certainly could be his backup at quarterback and maybe learn what it takes to be in the top five. Your own brother isn’t even as good as Brady.  Manning had 25 interceptions last year. He says he’s not a 25 interception quarterback, how can that be Eli, look at the numbers. If you want to be in Brady’s class you might want to get better at that. The best quarterbacks wearing NFL jerseys don’t do that. Manning will have a tough time living up to his remarks this year. The Giants missed on all their off season targets for receivers. As my Dad always told me, don’t tell me , show me. Better keep you mouth shut Eli and show us on the field how good you think you are.

Oklahoma the defending Big 12 champs are again voted the #1 team in the polls. This is more than any other program, a record. Auburn will start the season one spot behind where it started in 2010 at number 23. Hard too believe since they were the national champions last year. Of all the teams wearing NCAA football jerseys, Auburn deserves to be higher up in the polls. They went 14-0 last year. How can Notre Dame be ranked above them, makes no sense to me, they finished  8-5 last year. Oklahoma finished 12-2 last year, but have not won   it all since 2000, losing 3 BCS championships along the way. I guess it’s like anything else, ask 10 people one question and likely you’re going to get at least 8 different answers with only two people agreeing.
